QUIT IS NOT AN OPTION
By: Camille Kilakiga

To quit means to leave, go away or discontinue activity. Men usually the ones who quit when they are in the midst of a race. Suddenly you start thinking and ask yourself if it is enough reason for you to stop and put an end to all what you have begun?.

Courageous, fearless and most importantly, strong is what a heart should be. Challenge is always wonderful and it consists of several advantages. It’s obstacles and difficulty is a blessing, challenging us to strive harder and overcome our weaknesses. It gives us the chance to struggle and achieve our goals. Never walk away from what we have begun, instead, strive to learn.

To be a failure once is not a reason to give up instead look upon it like a challenge. You must stand and try again. You must show that you can do better than what is expected from you. Failing is the opportunity to start again. Believe that you have the heart to do it, for the essence of being a success is to keep on moving. Never stop fighting.

Quitters have no place. Only those with enough endurance survive. I have figured that race is not always for those who are swift but also to those who keep on running and do not mind the pain. Falling and making mistakes are the stepping stones to success, it curves you to be a fighter, to have control on difficulties and most of all, to be a survivor just like what they always say, that there is no gain without pain.

Attack every problem with enthusiasm and try to see an opportunity in every problem you encounter. The harder you work, the harder for you to surrender in the end, the people who fail are those who do not try hard enough. A successful man mistakes but do not quit; will learn from his mistakes and try again. Expect success and you will be successful. Quit and fail.

THE CATASTROPHE OF LIFE
By: Camille Kilakiga

The burden of life is search for our destiny
The fortune of life is own our hand
Our destiny in the book of life
The chance is always on our way
Passions affect our destiny
Love precede you to destiny
Love cause affection in life
The hardship of life

Time move so fast and furious, as the days goes by
Time so fast and furious, as you must not waste time
The paramount of time is in your hand.
The catastrophe of life is not always in you.
Hardship in life is part of our life.
Love what you are
Go on with the wind
And you’ll find your destiny.

Life is what you make it. Your the beholder of it. live it t the fullest and you’ll regret anything for sure. Life is a gift from God that should be cherished all the time, make it useful and then you will be happy and contented.

Calling Mama
By: Camille Kilakiga

Wind blows….Leaves rustle
And time flies as swiftly as it goes;
Listen Mama hear my call
Your once little girl is about to fall.
Mama, into my dreams come!
Wipe my tears ‘til it’s gone
Keep me in your breast
And tell me I’m not the least.
Tell me again I’m pretty
And that my voice fills up your day
Say no one moves as graceful as I am
Console me, I’ll be happy knowing
That to you I’m one.
Let this fear in my heart vanish
For I have a goal to finish
Coach me to pretend among the rest
Be at my side whenever im on test.
Calling mama..i’m on exile
It’s as if I ran a thousand mile,
I’m alone and hopeless I want to cry
But I’m now a lady. So, why should i?
You said I can make it coz I’m petite
And in my ways you’re there to believe
Whisper those assuring words again
So that somehow I wont feel much pain.

My mom is the person I admire most. I dedicate my life to her and promised not to bring her sorrow and pain. She holds my breath, the source of my strength, the one that makes me happy and my very best friend..Love you ma’

Thank you…
For the life
You’ve given me
For the love and care you’ve shown.
For putting me up and when im down
For guiding me when im lost
For the lessons you’ve taught
And for the moments well-spent
But most of all
I want to thank you
Not only for giving everything
But simply being there
To be my parents.

Family is sacred to me..they were the ones I can rely on, the ones I can trust, I can depend on and the ones who will give love unconditionally..they were the most important creations here on earth..my precious gems my love.

TALE OF COCKROACHES
By: Camille Kilakiga

Once upon a time, cockroaches were considered the most beautiful insects. Their colors were that of t6he sky. A certain shade of white was covering their bodies. And upon flight, the silhouette of their wings gave a dash of blue which made them look like floating cloud. They were a sight to behold. Creatures were always waiting for them to pass by. Their number didn't go higher than a thousand and they could only be seen in the garden near the gate of heaven.

Beside their great appearance, cockroaches had other gift from gods. Only they could get food from a tree known as the tree of Ellimac. Ellimac was the only tree of its kind. No other tree like4 it existed and it could only be taken cared of by co0ckroaches. The flickering wings of the cockroaches sustained its life. It was very old and very huge. They get food from the said tree through their antenna. They gained a sweet candy like smell, long life and euphoric happiness if they eat it often. They could eat other food but they prefer the one that they get from the tree of Ellimac. Years had created a mutual bond between cockroaches and the tree.

However, these gifts came with a cost. They have to follow rules from the gods or else they would be punished. Some of these rules were: they should be grateful to the gods and they should take care of the tree of Ellimac.
They were traditionally social insects. Like men, they had a special and distinct relationship among each other. Creatures expected them to be together and be seen like a floating cloud around or above the tree. It was their duty. Each one had a role to play and everyone was expected to do his part.

One day, as the cockroaches were flying, a hard wind blew them which caused one of them to be separated. It brought him to the edge of the garden. He was able to get a glimpse of what lay beyond the limits of the garden. It rose up his curiosity and made him desire to see what has beyond the place hue's been all his life. He went beyond the limits of the garden and saw that it was very different. But before he could explore further, the gods saw him and made them very angry. A loud voice was heard from the sky,” what are you doing here?” the cockroach immediately realized that the gods knew he was beyond the limits of the garden and he flew back as fast as he could. But the damage was already done. One of the laws of the gods was violated. As a punishment, the gods out of the antenna of every cockroach their color that was once like a sky turner darker and darker like what we have always seen in our house.

I hate cockroach, they were disgusting and a pests in most of my stuff. I want them out. to be vanished here on earth. but, I don’t want to be selfish. they were a creation of god like me. they have the right to live and be free. but please. keep out of me

CORDILLERA AUTONOMOUS REGION (CAR)- Lesson 2-7 Critique

It is nice to know and learn more about various inhabitants in a place where one lives at. More specifically, in CAR wherein different groups of people are living in the way they get used to.

One of them are the ISNEG’s who lived in the northwesterly end of northern Luzon in the upper half of Cordillera Province known as Kalinga Apayao. The Isneg’s main staple food is rice, apart from it they raised sugar cane for making basi. They have cultural similarities and only the language differ.Their oral tradition is rich w/ folk riddles w/ explain events and phenomena, relationship between people and their surroundings. ITNEG or TINGGUIAN were one of the early settlers of Abra. Although many have embraced Catholicism, some of them believe in ancient and supernatural spirits to this day. Most of them are farmers who tend rice in kaingins and rice terraces. In terms of Literary works they have their own story of the Great Deluge which implies the Western Mythology.

The most prominent of the Mountain people, they are the IGOROTS.Agriculture is their main source of livelihood. Social classes among them are based on their possessions. They believe that the universe is divided into 5 regions in which inhabited by thousands of deities and spirits. Their religious beliefs are expressed in various rituals performed by the people for any occasion. The BONTOC’s are the only people in the area known to have laws on warfare.Influenced by the Americans who built schools and offered scholarship to them. The Ato is a social, political and religious institution which is the basic unit of the village. They believe in anitos or spirits although they have their own Christian Baptism. Their social literature aims to communicate ideas or attitudes to others at certain occasions.

The mountain province of Benguet is the home of KANKANA-EY. They practice 3 types of Agriculture: slash and burn, terracing and horticulture. There is no political leadership in Kankana-ey society except that which isd acknoledged by virtue of their social classes which is the family. The KALINGA stand tall and one of Malayan Heritage. They provide their own social structure. They have primary dependence in root crops until they developed swidden farming. Kalinga literature consist of riddles, legends, epics or ballads.

Although differ in beliefs, languages and cultural practices, still they have the same way of living, almost the same in looks and in social structure. Our early settlers are those people which whom we all should be proud of.

BIAG NI LAM-ANG CRITICISMS

BIAG NI LAM-ANG

Biag ni Lam-ang is such a fictitious story inherent from Ilocos Region. A myth that widens and plays in the imagination of the readers and leaves moral lesson as well.

It is such a fanciful one casting of supernatural characters namely Lam-Ang, Ines Konoyan his wife, Namongan his mother, Don Juan Panganiban his dad, and some animals like a giant fish, rooster and dog are also involved in the magical story. It opens the curiosity of the readers that nothing’s impossible with literature if you only use your creative juices appropriately.

The story leaves a long-lasting expression of bravery, revenge, romance, magic, love for the family and even for friends. The author makes use of peculiar animals to adds up more flavor in the story and to have some twist he even make use of old tribes and imaginary characters as well.

Just like other mythology, which almost ends up in a happy-ending this one follows the rule of a fairy-tale that everybody lives happily ever after at the end of it. Yes, stereo-typical, but the difference of this with other magical story is, it is native’s masterpiece that we Filipinos should be proud of.

A short story packed with lots of moral lesson in the reality of life…Awesome!!!isn’t it?

"who are You?"

"Popularity is when others like you. Happiness is when you like yourself."
-Mike Murdock

EVERYTHING THAT MAKES ME HAPPY IS WITHIN MYSELF

Things that matters most must not be at the mercy of things that matters least.
-John Wolfgang Von Goethe.

I've been living in ease. How long has it been this way? Probably when I was born, or when I started to appreciates life from its fullness. I’m not sure myself. But at least I have one thing in my life now that I’m sure of- I am with GOD!!!everything in me running smoothly and now it's getting more evident.

Way back 1989, near midnight of November 03, when my parents were in a great shock (because my mother's deadline was not supposed to be in this date) a healthy baby girl was born in the Kilakiga Family of Quezon City. Being the 2nd child, the delivery was still very difficult and my mother almost died. I was baptized in the Catholic Church of St. Joseph, one month after my birth. As what they always addressed me I get used to be called "cam", "mille", and "camille". I have been known because of my superficial characteristics, being easy-go-lucky, cheerful and very gay to the extent that a dispute in life doesn’t stress me at all.

My keenness in studying as a seven-year-old kindergarten was natural back then. I remember preparing my uniform and shoes, bags; barbie stuffed notebooks and full-meal lunch box each night, excited about going to school. At some point, I was so so hungry for knowledge, I'd even read my ate's books as well. My curiosity in real world starts here. My first formal schooling was in Quirino Elementary, a public school one-ride away from our home. I've studied in this school from 1997-2002. It is common for every educational institution to give the values and rigid discipline to it's student likewise on it' academic aspects.

High school days plays a vital role in one's life..so am I..I could never forget all the wackiest thing that I’ve ever done here, all the funny trips that I get involved with, all the comradeship that I made, and all of my confidant who are part of the reasons of my existence. I greatly believe in this saying that "Your college friends know who you are, but your high school friends know why". All the aspects of my well-being rely on them. They even know me rather than I know myself.

At first, I found no difference when I entered college, for me it's almost the same regardless the fact that it's now more serious and critical. In terms of my present chums here, I value them as much as I value my previous ones. I am very POSSESIVE with regards to someone I cherish so much. Very dominant to the extent that I want them always beyond my sight, selfish so to speak...but it is my way of showing them how I am eager to hold them until the last breath of mine....ALOOF is the word I hated so much...I never think of myself experiencing this total disaster..I'll never let that happen even in my dreams...This may be the reason for my possessiveness...but I don't care as mush as I love what I’m doing no one can interrupts me..I know the scope of my limitations as much as possible I won't get into it...

I won't include in this story the primary characters in my life, which is my Family..God knows how much I love them, how much I care for them, how much I am eager to give even the very best of me just to satisfy them. And if I’ll elaborates it more the space won't be enough for all the million thanks I would devote to them..I know whatever happens there will be at my side...NOW AND FOREVER...
